Back to My Roots
One of the the things that I enjoy about making miniatures is incorporating my experiences into the kits that I design. Before we moved from Wisconsin to California, I visited my mom, who still lives on the crop farm where I grew up. I wanted to channel the feelings that I had about the family farm into a creative outlet.<br /> <br /> On the family farm, my father farmed corn and soybeans. Under his patient guidance, I learned – among many things – how to drive tractors. I also learned that corn should be "knee high by the Fourth of July" (this was before the days of plant genetics)! It was these memories that I channeled into creating our first farm-inspired kit, <a href="https://www.true2scale.com/a-bushel-and-a-peck/" style="font-style: italic;" target="_blank">A Bushel and a Peck</a>.<br /> <br /> Recently, I've re-visited my farm roots to create <a href="https://www.true2scale.com/farm-stand-kits/" style="font-style: italic;" target="_blank">The Farm Stand</a> kit. I hope that it brings a bit of joy and a feeling of nostalgia to other miniature enthusiasts.<br /> <br /> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNa_qgM0TVZjcZUWqEv8fjlVEpxSXw84gVlGK3Bpk1RS4IUfmOEQNwfeR-4CCLqQkFSsmInBJn2JEGoGgtEE2WGmxAbntTXJVJ2YrN3_HLM6uqsNnBH28dmO57G5fKwShKm7cd7fuGAYE/s1600/t2s-farm-stand-access.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNa_qgM0TVZjcZUWqEv8fjlVEpxSXw84gVlGK3Bpk1RS4IUfmOEQNwfeR-4CCLqQkFSsmInBJn2JEGoGgtEE2WGmxAbntTXJVJ2YrN3_HLM6uqsNnBH28dmO57G5fKwShKm7cd7fuGAYE/s400/t2s-farm-stand-access.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Farm Stand, a quarter scale (1:48) Kit.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXK8wPvgvjbkhN3-dzsmGpxji11wXgV0UEE-KTk1-roS5YT1DzrearicTGShyphenhyphenugL1o4Npm8ifrCo9tZ2aCKuTJEsdVeuT15QCEp_36n4NcU0UprzyE1onCBkYe3ND7A5Kug3eA2VnX5CU/s1600/t2s-farm-stand-access2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXK8wPvgvjbkhN3-dzsmGpxji11wXgV0UEE-KTk1-roS5YT1DzrearicTGShyphenhyphenugL1o4Npm8ifrCo9tZ2aCKuTJEsdVeuT15QCEp_36n4NcU0UprzyE1onCBkYe3ND7A5Kug3eA2VnX5CU/s400/t2s-farm-stand-access2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Farm Stand is shown with the Farm Stand Accessories Kit.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

It's been a tremendously fun and creative group effort. </div> <br />We are offering a teeny bit magazine in hopes that it will inspire you to... <i>Make something teeny!</i><div> <br /></div> <div> <a href="http://issuu.com/ateenybit/docs/a-teeny-bit-xmas-2015/1" target="_blank">View the magazine online for free</a> OR <a href="http://www.blurb.com/b/6638505-a-teeny-bit-christmas-2015" target="_blank">Purchase a printed copy</a>.</div> <div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

Chalk Painting Tutorial for Miniatures
<div style="text-align: left;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJJRAX2TBVByyJTLwrdc1J_Iv0HHbt6maunH_nrqVklqkM7uy-lpLwj0UBYedF84CdsHyZUr2DiHcrtgi-UdvqZerb6iqKrE6hTTEHS-kIVel1DIoXNbJQLARzHng1v-Y-kbSXYxG5bpE/s1600/blue-cabinet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJJRAX2TBVByyJTLwrdc1J_Iv0HHbt6maunH_nrqVklqkM7uy-lpLwj0UBYedF84CdsHyZUr2DiHcrtgi-UdvqZerb6iqKrE6hTTEHS-kIVel1DIoXNbJQLARzHng1v-Y-kbSXYxG5bpE/s1600/blue-cabinet.jpg" height="640" width="409" /></a></div> Chalk paint has a velvety, dull finish that gives the appearance of old, painted furniture. You may have seen chalk paint used on full size furniture found on Pinterest and on blogs. Here is a tutorial for mixing your own chalk paint and adding a finish to create that perfect, vintage look!<br /> <br /> <i>This is a great way to enhance the look of manufactured dollhouse furniture!</i><br /> <br /> <b>Tools and supplies</b><br /> <ul> <li>sifter</li> <li>various grits of sandpaper</li> <li>small whisk to use in paint</li> <li>stain in your choice of colors</li> <li>X-ACTO knife with extra blades</li> <li>airtight plastic container for paint</li> <li>soft rags for wiping stain and buffing wax</li> <li>paintbrushes: 3/4” wide flat brush, approx. 1/4” wide flat brush, small detail brushes</li> <li>paints: off-white latex/household emulsion; acrylic colors of your choice to tint the off-white paint</li> <li>calcium carbonate (available in small quantities from wine making shops)</li> <li>paste wax (I like the American Paint Company brand because it is not harmful to breathe or to work with)</li> </ul> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMGV4DMAi7OhnyUEZ0RYsHHwOP-ii73iaAVvWIJyMCG-hHzd_eD3vlZD0X-c1-yatn1Dr3PFHob3CeF1JJpzWwEox-mLZ3-aLfhtrku4phV5bxm4i-req299zHEcMcdhyPtYJtyiDB8bA/s1600/white-cabinet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMGV4DMAi7OhnyUEZ0RYsHHwOP-ii73iaAVvWIJyMCG-hHzd_eD3vlZD0X-c1-yatn1Dr3PFHob3CeF1JJpzWwEox-mLZ3-aLfhtrku4phV5bxm4i-req299zHEcMcdhyPtYJtyiDB8bA/s1600/white-cabinet.jpg" height="400" width="253" /></a></div> <b>Mixing</b><br /> Mix 2 parts latex/household emulsion paint and 1 part sifted calcium carbonate into a small, airtight container. Whisk together until the paint is completely smooth (this takes a while).<br /> <br /> Add a VERY TINY amount of the acrylic paint to the latex mixture and whisk. Keep adding acrylic paint and mixing until the desired color is achieved. Remember: the paint will dry darker than the color of the wet paint.<br /> <br /> <b>Creating samples</b><br /> Make sample chips using scrap pieces. This is a great time to learn about chalk paint and using it with stain and wax finishes, so don’t skip this step! You may wish to try various combinations of finishes, for example:<br /> <ul> <li>stain, paint, wax</li> <li>paint, sand some areas bare, stain bare areas, wax</li> <li>paint, wax</li> <li>how about stain, paint, gold marker, wax?</li> </ul> Have fun and be creative! Don’t forget to write your recipes on the back of your sample chips!<br /> <br /> <b>Applying finishes</b><br /> When you’ve chosen a look that you like and the color, proceed to sanding your piece and applying the finishes. Sand between each coat of stain/paint. <br /> <br /> Finish the piece with several coats of wax, buffing between coats (following instructions on the container). <br /> <br /> <b>Used in the photos </b><br /> BLUE CABINET: A tiny amount of green and yellow acrylic paints were mixed into the off-white latex paint (mixed with calcium carbonate) to achieve the color of this cabinet. The cabinet was sanded between coats of paint. Clear and dark wax was applied. Pink Chintz and Blue Chintz Decals and Dish Blanks are available from <a href="http://www.true2scale.com/search.php?search_query=chintz&x=-1231&y=-81" target="_blank">true2scale.com</a>. Doll by Marcella Cupello, Cutie Mini Dolls.<br /> <br /> WHITE CABINET: This cabinet was painted with the off-white latex/household emulsion paint mixed with calcium carbonate, sanded, stained in the bare wood areas with dark walnut, and waxed.<div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

The Making of a Logo
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUCSms2KCTPZbNdpWnryBCCdFUKaXniJq7j03smLhP3TcG4A43zcTSceAAtcL2cw6kb4QAPzLu66GAZ_8UjDBKGtSCdm0MoZcADHqC5xeVE8KV6sQ_DAd5zwtZA1HS6ndQTN0B-ge2WX4/s1600/st-louis-name-logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUCSms2KCTPZbNdpWnryBCCdFUKaXniJq7j03smLhP3TcG4A43zcTSceAAtcL2cw6kb4QAPzLu66GAZ_8UjDBKGtSCdm0MoZcADHqC5xeVE8KV6sQ_DAd5zwtZA1HS6ndQTN0B-ge2WX4/s1600/st-louis-name-logo.png" /></a></div> Curious about what goes into designing a logo? Here is how the logo for the the NAME National Convention in St. Louis was created.<br /> <br /> <b>Step 1</b><br /> In 2012, I gathered information from the Steering Committee of the event. The committee requested that the theme of the convention, "Rollin' on the River" be used in the text, along with a strong visual.<br /> <br /> <b>Step 2 </b><br /> I find that brainstorming visuals and writing down words helps to put me in the right frame of mind for creating logos. I brainstormed word associations: boat, river, Mississippi, Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, steamboat, riverboat, fishing, woodtype ornamentation, <i>and many more!</i> <i>Time: approx. 1.5 hours </i><br /><br /> <b>Step 3 </b><br /> I began sketches based upon the words that had strong visuals. <i>Time: approx. 3 hours </i><br /> <br /> <b>Step 4</b><br /> The design process moved to the computer, where I came up with several iterations of the logo until I was happy with the final. Here are 2 earlier iterations:<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim7Ysz7dpY8EiRfSTouj-7BylrYdiueQwOZuPC5ltPIaJc-uf7e65amrni3e54_HbLO8RUYNGFUm1heTxV-NquaFlojgb1MsA_GRdpYKjCRW9xdp1iI1AABsdba3f-jQDEC6rdRHLiYIE/s1600/logo-ideas.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim7Ysz7dpY8EiRfSTouj-7BylrYdiueQwOZuPC5ltPIaJc-uf7e65amrni3e54_HbLO8RUYNGFUm1heTxV-NquaFlojgb1MsA_GRdpYKjCRW9xdp1iI1AABsdba3f-jQDEC6rdRHLiYIE/s1600/logo-ideas.png" height="170" width="320" /></a></div> I had settled on the visual of a steamboat; representing the Mississippi River, the connection between all of the states in the region that is hosting the NAME event. But I struggled with the amount of text; it was just too many words to use with a graphic.<br /> <br /> As you can see in the second version (above), I was starting to play with the shape of a boat - stacking words on top of a woodtype ornament to suggest the bottom of a boat. I decided to simplify the design further, and make the text into the shape of a steamboat. The "LL" in "Rollin" was extended to appear like smokestacks, and a flourish was added to give the impression of steam as well as balance the graphic ornament on the bottom of the logo. <i>Time: approx. 5.5 hours </i><br /> <br /> It was such a fun project, that I even designed an additional graphic to go on t-shirts, tote bags and aprons:<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim5Zthtb6RqpACfgZpHJ8dwCGrMB0cfI4A0MKPVnNtKUzyaOPie8jIVgQ8tn7y29UARIj1Mlp_9aMuclTlZztwI-MXgimaz7BEq5ah_JyCoFoabNcBX3xW8DnjI99u_ps0y0mNpZbiHI0/s1600/tshirt+back+color.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim5Zthtb6RqpACfgZpHJ8dwCGrMB0cfI4A0MKPVnNtKUzyaOPie8jIVgQ8tn7y29UARIj1Mlp_9aMuclTlZztwI-MXgimaz7BEq5ah_JyCoFoabNcBX3xW8DnjI99u_ps0y0mNpZbiHI0/s1600/tshirt+back+color.png" height="258" width="320" /></a></div> <br /> <i><br /></i> <i><br /></i> <i>Hope to see you in St. Louis!</i><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

Many of her possessions have been preserved and are available for public viewing, including a bookcase which houses books on gardening, cooking, nutrition and exercise. New Kits for Spring!
Last Winter, we were busy designing new kits for the following Spring. It was not an easy task to think "Spring" when we were under a record amount of snow and cold! At long last, the warm temperatures are here and the kits are ready!<div> <br /></div> <div> The <a href="http://www.true2scale.com/marigold-in-a-milk-carton-kit/" target="_blank">Marigolds in a Milk Carton Kit</a> has been reintroduced, and with it, the <a href="http://www.true2scale.com/crate-of-marigolds-kit/" target="_blank">Wooden Crate with 6 Marigolds Kit</a>. Janice Crawley and a Mini Trip to Asia
While at the Sarasota Show, I stumbled upon an artisan's work that I was not familiar with. Her name is Janice Crawley, from Winnipeg, Canada. Janice is a Fellow of IGMA and works in porcelain. I am particularly fond of her whimsical teapots (if you read between the lines, it means I'm starting a new collection - oh dear)!<br /> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYoI9b1eJKrKVOFOw9HZ8Aeu-Af9tJRURuFDecS5qFfMd3G_s69R7q-VeM9n_8jEuAC59X6oRtk4RdiYXXdYC5md7e4EmbRX6nRuTNGEHSMH2Tq26m30Ozcb_hi9TZ_SDKFVuqWEj1jZY/s1600/teapots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYoI9b1eJKrKVOFOw9HZ8Aeu-Af9tJRURuFDecS5qFfMd3G_s69R7q-VeM9n_8jEuAC59X6oRtk4RdiYXXdYC5md7e4EmbRX6nRuTNGEHSMH2Tq26m30Ozcb_hi9TZ_SDKFVuqWEj1jZY/s1600/teapots.jpg" height="241" width="320" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Teapots by Janice Crawley.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsoMozD3AuDWImWDqX132ALis6zOTk5jvxPLnbmNUWGZ6eHkabM3Y9_k27uph1VrZTNmzWNqeF-Ih0Xvl3DujOm0eqlzUWYCTMh479I5jRDg2lkaxOQneTU0voYOnv7f-1KNZCbuCoEbs/s1600/elephant-teapot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsoMozD3AuDWImWDqX132ALis6zOTk5jvxPLnbmNUWGZ6eHkabM3Y9_k27uph1VrZTNmzWNqeF-Ih0Xvl3DujOm0eqlzUWYCTMh479I5jRDg2lkaxOQneTU0voYOnv7f-1KNZCbuCoEbs/s1600/elephant-teapot.jpg" height="218" width="320" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The elephant has a place for a warmer.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

Are you packing your toolkits for Tucson? Hopefully, you can join us for the NAME National Convention starting next week! We are introducing many new kits (the most we've ever brought to a show)! If traveling to Tucson isn't in your schedule, no worries... these kits will be available on our website in late July. I'll send out a newsletter announcement when they are ready, so you may wish to <a href="http://true2scale.us4.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=7b08fc1aef8e1920872f07325&id=00dec409b6" target="_blank">sign up for the newsletter</a>.<br /> <br /> <i>Hope to see you in Tucson or another upcoming show!</i><br /> <i><br /></i> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; Inspiration from Giverny
On our recent trip to Giverny, it was easy to see how Claude Monet drew inspiration from his amazing gardens and the surroundings of this quaint village. Now a home to the Giverny Museum of Impressionism, gift shops, and restaurants, Giverny is abloom with enchanting fragrances and colors!<br /> <br /> <br /> <embed flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2F110574739010792507839%2Falbumid%2F5893414649259689665%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26authkey%3DGv1sRgCIqKmu3Qj-aUuQE%26hl%3Den_US" height="267" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" src="https://static.googleusercontent.com/external_content/picasaweb.googleusercontent.com/slideshow.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400"></embed><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

Tucson Workshops Still Have Openings!
<div class="p1"> This is your last opportunity to sign up for our workshops at the NAME National Convention in Tucson, July 8-14. <b>Registration closes May 31</b>. This year, we are offering two workshops:</div> <div class="p1"> <br /></div> <div class="p1" style="text-align: left;"> <b>A Night in the Museum</b></div> <div class="p1" style="text-align: left;"> Mon., July 8 - Tues., July 9. This is not your typical Egyptian pyramid; it’s a Mummy’s Day party complete with tiny treats! On Monday, students will build a <b>1:48 scale</b> pyramid, age, and apply a “magical mummy mixture” to the exterior, construct the Egyptian style furnishings, electrify the room with a battery-powered LED, and apply the wall, ceiling and floor designs. Students will learn different aging and finishing techniques. On Tuesday, students will create quarter scale treats with Ruth Stewart. She will teach polymer clay blending techniques as students make cake pops in pyramid and mummy shapes, create a cake decorated with Egyptian motifs, and tiny cupcakes with a mold that will be yours to keep. A menagerie of tiny laser cut mummies and camels will be provided to decorate the scene. <a href="http://true2scale.com/contact-us/" target="_blank">Contact Carol for registration info</a>. </div> <div class="p1" style="text-align: left;"> <br /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk5fnW0YbhKFELFPT4xd4sLuZhQof8z8mHBsJm_YsPZmqqG2onEuhDEBT4eEiRfVuCZ__HUaE7UZOmM2GZdFX0yRZwD3D3aAWMBz2H8LSEnQckLmu56bxf7aGt1eKVLCQI1AkiQ1A6EhI/s1600/interior2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk5fnW0YbhKFELFPT4xd4sLuZhQof8z8mHBsJm_YsPZmqqG2onEuhDEBT4eEiRfVuCZ__HUaE7UZOmM2GZdFX0yRZwD3D3aAWMBz2H8LSEnQckLmu56bxf7aGt1eKVLCQI1AkiQ1A6EhI/s400/interior2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_D_JN2-4Vhq5x4J6d_-U3RISEBqBRmwSFTQLrTOvQVia-9pJwDBf5Cboup5GIm7YE-1QfU_SU-rgb0cCbdwCYS_gcDq_6bFPuJJy7f3JpJsYGXO9_fUxXyBeXxtUvxaVlZVJydh8IDG4/s1600/exterior.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_D_JN2-4Vhq5x4J6d_-U3RISEBqBRmwSFTQLrTOvQVia-9pJwDBf5Cboup5GIm7YE-1QfU_SU-rgb0cCbdwCYS_gcDq_6bFPuJJy7f3JpJsYGXO9_fUxXyBeXxtUvxaVlZVJydh8IDG4/s400/exterior.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px;">A quick and easy technique for finishing the exterior will be taught.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsS57aiOBKWgDqXWt4XO_zOinMrtL1UzIczjQ7TUVLGHcjC-y8udIC8K6TMgmV8M9NuLO3LcV65X_u8McuLw0kafPndD37EKVkYNcdtngPMtF-6xvRec2NXoo6pTTalFSwsPW9Qv6jgSU/s1600/table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsS57aiOBKWgDqXWt4XO_zOinMrtL1UzIczjQ7TUVLGHcjC-y8udIC8K6TMgmV8M9NuLO3LcV65X_u8McuLw0kafPndD37EKVkYNcdtngPMtF-6xvRec2NXoo6pTTalFSwsPW9Qv6jgSU/s400/table.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px;">Students will create Egyptian-inspired treats in <b>quarter scale</b> with Ruth Stewart.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div class="p1"> <b>Silent Night Fireplace with Glitter Houses</b></div> <div class="p1"> Wed., July 10. Another Chicago Show Post
How can I describe this year's Chicago International Show? Hmm... an event that brings together so many wonderful people and amazing miniatures in a great setting! Mr. T2S and I were excited to meet new faces and say hello to our mini friends. And then there were the miniatures... each artist showing their beautifully crafted pieces in carefully arranged displays. From the finest miniature pieces to the affordable do-it-yourself items; the show offered something for everyone.<div> <br /></div> <div> I was <i>awestruck</i> by the work of several artists who incorporated our kits into their pieces. <a href="http://www.tallertargioni.com/" target="_blank">Taller Targioni</a>, from Spain, set our <a href="http://www.true2scale.com/glitter-house-kits/" target="_blank">Snow Village glitter houses</a> (1:12 and 1:24 scales) into gorgeous cabinets! <a href="http://whitledgeburgess.com/studio/" target="_blank">Whitledge-Burgess</a> used our <a href="http://www.true2scale.com/miniature-decals-heirloom-roses/" target="_blank">Heirloom Roses decals and dishes</a> in their new workshop, A Culinary Classic. Chicago International Workshop
We have been working feverishly to prepare new items (I'm really excited about!) for the <a href="http://bishopshow.com/chiinfo.htm" target="_blank">Chicago International Show</a>. If you will be attending the show, please stop by our table to say hello and take a look at the items that we will be introducing.<br /> <br /> If you interested in taking a workshop, we will be teaching the vintage style <a href="http://bishopshow.com/chi13ws63.htm" target="_blank">Glitter House and Sleigh</a>. We'll light it with your choice of a white or red LED, construct a tiny little sleigh and create an itsy bitsy Santa made from a real pinecone. Just like the antique versions from yesteryear! You'll learn techniques for working with LED lighting, paper and wood veneer. This will be a fun, shorter class. Students will likely leave with a finished project. <i>How often does that happen?!? </i><br /> <br /> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4eWyYEDZP6QIBdwrgErZhfEmBrM8JYLygUOLBcbxxY10sdEaj2YWwWhD0bkGGMqY8wAcLfMQ8uJOWvBYeK5xVw5tgB-s9h0uKOPRV-T1gzSQS-DSP1X-k3_EthCezNATp7_EfKnhI6LU/s1600/true2scale-chicago-workshop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4eWyYEDZP6QIBdwrgErZhfEmBrM8JYLygUOLBcbxxY10sdEaj2YWwWhD0bkGGMqY8wAcLfMQ8uJOWvBYeK5xVw5tgB-s9h0uKOPRV-T1gzSQS-DSP1X-k3_EthCezNATp7_EfKnhI6LU/s400/true2scale-chicago-workshop.jpg" width="395" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Glitter House and Sleigh workshop at the Chicago International Show.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

So Sweeeeeet!
I am enthralled by vintage valentines. I find their designs, colors, and text irresistibly charming! So, I decided to celebrate the season of love by capturing the nostalgic feel of those vintage valentines in this decorated hutch. Of course, the scene wouldn't be complete without a few luscious chocolates and a lighted glitter house!<br /> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ8ZEWCwIQcS-tuIfC0KwmB1tlUtUybhX03Qv75tuuGosf8b3NFPPJQ5a8SQu3G4KhsA18URJU1Q23xZ2AhIFVUMDBBzRSKdCgHWcrbZ2_dU2OTWgGrhV4X-C7tyQRHnaddejIgRmwX5c/s1600/t2s-valentine-house4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ8ZEWCwIQcS-tuIfC0KwmB1tlUtUybhX03Qv75tuuGosf8b3NFPPJQ5a8SQu3G4KhsA18URJU1Q23xZ2AhIFVUMDBBzRSKdCgHWcrbZ2_dU2OTWgGrhV4X-C7tyQRHnaddejIgRmwX5c/s640/t2s-valentine-house4.jpg" width="360" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Kits for Valentine's Day are available from <a href="http://true2scale.com/shop/valentines-day" target="_blank">true2scale.com</a></td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSmRtPD3wm8NFqoZapiynOLzT1DSNlSNufUSTl4qbwcOLpSRL6J_nWpD7IJ_56hHksujPxZ50sU-W6taKkg9csPI9XzIxtJG86_O166yWOV6jyA0cL5XZeJxtT0p7JNL5MbxfMSQGQzqA/s1600/t2s-valentine-house5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSmRtPD3wm8NFqoZapiynOLzT1DSNlSNufUSTl4qbwcOLpSRL6J_nWpD7IJ_56hHksujPxZ50sU-W6taKkg9csPI9XzIxtJG86_O166yWOV6jyA0cL5XZeJxtT0p7JNL5MbxfMSQGQzqA/s400/t2s-valentine-house5.jpg" width="265" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cupcakes pops from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Kimsminibakery?ref=em" target="_blank">Kim's Mini Bakery</a>.</td></tr> </tbody></table> I wanted to give the glitter house a sweet, alluring look...in a Betty Boop sort of way. See the rosy cheeks and detailed mouth? Tiny window awnings give the appearance of eyelashes. A path made of heart-shaped pavers leads up to the door and the heart-shaped base is decorated with a fence with the tiniest details. Perhaps it's a bit over-the-top; but isn't that what Valentine's Day is about?<br /> <br /> <i>I hope your Valentine's Day is extra sweet (and a little spicy too)!</i><br /> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPBTidy8CENKu4qM8XI2D9k4Vl9u5pXyWvABwcZ0oo4_5lUscttledbpboqhGx0h3HK0ozIpa8Gh7O0MoY9TXJsbV2y-_PSY1d2_UiUq6Vd0FjKGeakNYv9Y1TrOrnwTzWq898LZkRKpQ/s1600/t2s-valentine-house2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPBTidy8CENKu4qM8XI2D9k4Vl9u5pXyWvABwcZ0oo4_5lUscttledbpboqhGx0h3HK0ozIpa8Gh7O0MoY9TXJsbV2y-_PSY1d2_UiUq6Vd0FjKGeakNYv9Y1TrOrnwTzWq898LZkRKpQ/s400/t2s-valentine-house2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Glitter house kit, LED lights and other Valentine's Day kits are available from <a href="http://true2scale.com/shop/valentines-day" target="_blank">true2scale.com</a></td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /> <br /><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>

The Sarasota Show and a break from the Icicle State
Even though the locals called it cold, the weather in the Sunshine State felt really lovely to us! Along with a bit of sunshine, we enjoyed yummy oysters, a wade in the Gulf, and some great miniatures. It was a fun-filled weekend! We were fortunate that our table was next to <a href="http://www.karoncunningham.com/en/pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">Karon Cunningham</a> (England) and <a href="http://mikebarbour.com/" target="_blank">Mike Barbour</a>. And Molly Cromwell did her best to talk us into the Danube Cruise. <i>Oh dear...</i><br /> <div> <br /></div> <div> Some of the lovely pieces from the show:</div> <div> <br /></div> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; The Building of the Indecisive Roombox - Part 3
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDGkIobn6gCl_hQ1_I_ENnPAwhc215-X1JG28rh0SOv1a7BaBzTLR1NMTS0SmqTEKRRohtqpbiqWTf3f7z5dp5uomB03RmPrIPmCGE7cZIXUYwG7xbFQMIyrSeymxnJS2u8gACXAEyGw/s1600/photo-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDGkIobn6gCl_hQ1_I_ENnPAwhc215-X1JG28rh0SOv1a7BaBzTLR1NMTS0SmqTEKRRohtqpbiqWTf3f7z5dp5uomB03RmPrIPmCGE7cZIXUYwG7xbFQMIyrSeymxnJS2u8gACXAEyGw/s400/photo-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <div> <br /></div> With the roombox coming together nicely, I decided to create a focal point for the parlor; a mantel with a lighted village scene. This is a very special village scene, created by Sylvia Mobley at <a href="http://www.sylviamobley.com/" target="_blank">Pine Rose Studios</a>. Sylvia does the most spectacular work in porcelain and ceramic clays!<br /> <div> <br /></div> <div> As many of you know, I've done a few lighted village scenes in my time (ha ha!). So, I thought I would share how I put them on mantels and add the LED lights. </div> <div> <i><br /></i></div> <div> <i>Please forgive the terrible photos that were taken with my phone. I was in a bit of a hurry on Christmas Eve to finish and wrap the project, which was a Christmas gift for my mother.</i></div> <div> <i><br /></i></div> <div> I used:</div> <div> <ul> <li>mantel </li> <li>1/2" thick foam core board or <a href="http://www.dickblick.com/products/gatorfoam-board/?clickTracking=true" target="_blank">gatorfoam board</a>; a bit wider than my mantel, the same height as the ceiling in my room</li> <li>matboard</li> <li><a href="http://true2scale.com/shop/led-lighting/led-light-for-glitter-house-kits" target="_blank">LEDs </a>(one per house)</li> <li><a href="http://true2scale.com/shop/led-lighting/battery-holder-switch-battery-for-led-lights" target="_blank">Battery holder, switch, battery for LEDs</a> </li> <li>tiny drill bit and a pin vise</li> <li>hobby knife</li> <li>Crafter's Pick "<a href="http://www.crafterspick.com/" target="_blank">The Ultimate</a>" glue</li> </ul> </div> <div> I chose a French Style mantel piece that I felt would fit with the architecture of the roombox. As is often the case, the mantel was not deep enough to accomodate the houses, so I cut a deeper faux mantel top from matboard. White matboard is obviously preferred, but a coat of white paint solved my last-minute materials supply issue!</div> <div> <br /></div> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXDsy2MDuocQbMH3yE1Yd3mymnVrIDC5H-C7HysHutPJPj099L4e9R872wDVIttulEkaMz79NIAI_NmVLnkJUAitCAo5CIYo1xp4dqLSUg85cXTEY30Rw_E-LxVlV2kPLQKrRvWS74bM8/s1600/photo-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXDsy2MDuocQbMH3yE1Yd3mymnVrIDC5H-C7HysHutPJPj099L4e9R872wDVIttulEkaMz79NIAI_NmVLnkJUAitCAo5CIYo1xp4dqLSUg85cXTEY30Rw_E-LxVlV2kPLQKrRvWS74bM8/s400/photo-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A faux mantel top was created from matboard.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div> <br /></div> <div> Before I glued the matboard in place, I made tiny holes for the LED wires to slip through, one hole/one LED per house. Typically, I glue the LEDs into my paper glitter houses (<a href="http://true2scale.blogspot.com/p/led-lighting-tutorial.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a>) but in this case, I was concerned about gluing them to the porcelain houses. Instead, I bent the wires of the lights flat against the mantel piece and placed the houses on top of each LED (this solution worked well). The wires were pushed through the matboard and bent. They exit the back side of the fireplace under the faux mantel top.</div> <div> <br /></div> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjc_pwRZfnFZXc9l3bOhEosmntNtYmiAhNdGOa6itCpFkQHAuGchsNFDLetGsFktrNAa0E09miISYcrkpEV2L0trQomxuql1fY7i4sjCt3pwkbIwXkWcPrHUxaLCCt5cnhnqrjTypvToM/s1600/photo-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjc_pwRZfnFZXc9l3bOhEosmntNtYmiAhNdGOa6itCpFkQHAuGchsNFDLetGsFktrNAa0E09miISYcrkpEV2L0trQomxuql1fY7i4sjCt3pwkbIwXkWcPrHUxaLCCt5cnhnqrjTypvToM/s400/photo-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">LEDs are placed on top of the faux mantel top. Their wires exit under the top and behind the mantel.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div> <br /></div> <div> Using foamcore for the chimney breast allows me to carve a section on the back of it for the battery and switch. I wallpapered the front of the chimney breast. Holes were drilled from the front of the chimneybreast (behind the fireplace) into the carved section. The LED wires were pushed through the holes and connected to the battery and switch (<a href="http://true2scale.blogspot.com/p/led-lighting-tutorial.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a>). </div> <div> <br /></div> <div> <br /></div> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy5SKTm4daMb_Ek69vRoz8bJD3ArnmYbEck4ArxsynpEZtIMVemUfhnzZ5G4EnJu5782XjjLjPXEd8jc9SFBC5THmB2C-3fQo5kAJwA-h_P8fxejkJVUFKs5beFRKQ4PPGQsFUv81eLDY/s1600/photo-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy5SKTm4daMb_Ek69vRoz8bJD3ArnmYbEck4ArxsynpEZtIMVemUfhnzZ5G4EnJu5782XjjLjPXEd8jc9SFBC5THmB2C-3fQo5kAJwA-h_P8fxejkJVUFKs5beFRKQ4PPGQsFUv81eLDY/s400/photo-3.jpg" width="262" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The back side of the chimney breast.</td></tr> </tbody></table> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDGkIobn6gCl_hQ1_I_ENnPAwhc215-X1JG28rh0SOv1a7BaBzTLR1NMTS0SmqTEKRRohtqpbiqWTf3f7z5dp5uomB03RmPrIPmCGE7cZIXUYwG7xbFQMIyrSeymxnJS2u8gACXAEyGw/s1600/photo-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDGkIobn6gCl_hQ1_I_ENnPAwhc215-X1JG28rh0SOv1a7BaBzTLR1NMTS0SmqTEKRRohtqpbiqWTf3f7z5dp5uomB03RmPrIPmCGE7cZIXUYwG7xbFQMIyrSeymxnJS2u8gACXAEyGw/s400/photo-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> After the wires were pushed through, and the LEDs were tested again, the fireplace and firebox were glued to the chimney breast. The Building of the Indecisive Roombox - Part 2
Well, here it is... just a couple of days before Christmas, and I have yet to finish the indecisive roombox. The project has been neglected for a while because I've been busy creating new kits for 2013 (I can't wait to show them!).<br /> <br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /> The ceiling was a bit of a challenge because I found out that I don't have the proper tools to cut it. A table saw would have worked perfectly. <i>Are you reading this, Santa?</i><br /> <br /> I installed the lighting components from <a href="http://www.cr2s.com/" target="_blank">Creative Reproductions 2 Scale</a>, which included a flexible strip of LEDs and a power supply. Using a trick I'd learned from Joe Zerbolio, who teaches really helpful <a href="http://miniaturemuseum.org/March%202012%20Electric%20Clinic.htm" target="_blank">wiring clinics</a> at the <a href="http://www.miniaturemuseum.org/" target="_blank">Miniature Museum of St. Louis</a>, I mounted the LEDs on a triangle-shape molding and glued the molding to the front of the roombox.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6KTCjDT268Aar1zcO3UbBhAJHKuy9IKv0xtSsgORcpzJMvGDfaeFd78gwA7QcPTMwvPYN8PNQ-Dnec-7gJG5naQy6FBK9IcYjROm4E6YBlW3MJq4em3C2PnNeIhYcduAQvwtJdUqZwrc/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6KTCjDT268Aar1zcO3UbBhAJHKuy9IKv0xtSsgORcpzJMvGDfaeFd78gwA7QcPTMwvPYN8PNQ-Dnec-7gJG5naQy6FBK9IcYjROm4E6YBlW3MJq4em3C2PnNeIhYcduAQvwtJdUqZwrc/s400/photo.JPG" width="400" /></a></div> <br /> <br /> The black walnut flooring kit was purchased from <a href="http://brodnaxprints.com/" target="_blank">Broadnax Prints</a>. It took a couple of afternoons to assemble the pieces like a puzzle, but it was fun! A coat of dark walnut stain and several coats of a gloss polyurethane will be added.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXy6TvUiHwdmzs-MGqJsbqU-d6fFzLd09CkLikDl6hxzQkOXjUEunbyuj7GLaYu5urz1WtcWGkSWBdDlKhdbpPYVBJFad5rHL3jvHBA2mS-ftHko_x52crldJ6o1g85Nu_3-OP2XNGq7g/s1600/IMG_2330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXy6TvUiHwdmzs-MGqJsbqU-d6fFzLd09CkLikDl6hxzQkOXjUEunbyuj7GLaYu5urz1WtcWGkSWBdDlKhdbpPYVBJFad5rHL3jvHBA2mS-ftHko_x52crldJ6o1g85Nu_3-OP2XNGq7g/s400/IMG_2330.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <br /> Choosing the wallpapers has proven to be the most difficult job! Even though the architecture of the roombox suggests a French style, the wallpapers and furniture will be an assortment of Victorian pieces that were collected by my mother and me for our large Victorian house.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXg35j31x7aLVWE-RFqTNux2WLt0cSuxLWLCs81xCc81ir1Cyqmax7c5hSB7juxauPZpHUBHQ3EJa64HO8orXx_c7FxMJFkn9l7oZx_mtm_8gmhMAgdaBe7i1f0zUXf8pbsgbYO1XLSu8/s1600/IMG_2310.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXg35j31x7aLVWE-RFqTNux2WLt0cSuxLWLCs81xCc81ir1Cyqmax7c5hSB7juxauPZpHUBHQ3EJa64HO8orXx_c7FxMJFkn9l7oZx_mtm_8gmhMAgdaBe7i1f0zUXf8pbsgbYO1XLSu8/s400/IMG_2310.jpg" width="298" /></a></div> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhqJj9JAUAAmp9BQbFryex5LvruRK5yCHxVVmOqa1di60_LNyPB8H_mrJhhegZayyvzZzBTtCCa29_Ehc_WHMQy7lpzxgZ618mQKFu5Z2HyJVqvmtTTL34YbUqfP0nRrgmAivkbrKUMU/s1600/IMG_2311.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhqJj9JAUAAmp9BQbFryex5LvruRK5yCHxVVmOqa1di60_LNyPB8H_mrJhhegZayyvzZzBTtCCa29_Ehc_WHMQy7lpzxgZ618mQKFu5Z2HyJVqvmtTTL34YbUqfP0nRrgmAivkbrKUMU/s400/IMG_2311.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <br /> Here is a selection of the many, many carpets that were collected over the years. Most of our collection was purchased while my husband and I were still dating. While on a trip to Istanbul, we found these little carpets in all of the tourist shops. And the fantastic markets offered plenty of opportunities to purchase large quantities of rugs for a discounted price. We returned home with our suitcases full of them! Perhaps that was the first time that the future Mr. True2Scale realized that his soon-to-be wife was a little obsessed with miniatures!<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_NsbzXdcy9uXvU_AkKsYLvt0_KpICN5LqYjlQFW2y6VHMRG-_eTWuM0kU0YPsvcuZLYrWuz49Gzmtbpk6pOOMArrmjrIJWszZnE5UVvQb850R1f6M-9frug0pniRt3R7perYmX5xpGLA/s1600/IMG_2312.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_NsbzXdcy9uXvU_AkKsYLvt0_KpICN5LqYjlQFW2y6VHMRG-_eTWuM0kU0YPsvcuZLYrWuz49Gzmtbpk6pOOMArrmjrIJWszZnE5UVvQb850R1f6M-9frug0pniRt3R7perYmX5xpGLA/s400/IMG_2312.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.799999237060547px;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: black; font-family: Times; font-size: medium; line-height: normal;"> Other posts in this series:</div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: black; font-family: Times; font-size: medium; line-height: normal;"> <a href="http://true2scale.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-building-of-indecisive-roombox-part.html">Part 1</a></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: black; font-family: Times; font-size: medium; line-height: normal;"> <a href="http://true2scale.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-building-of-indecisive-roombox-part_27.html">Part 3</a></div> <br /> <br /><div class="blogger-post-footer"> Subscribe to our email newsletter for special offers and news: http://eepurl.com/j3Dub</div>
